THANKSGIVING WEEK PART TWO

After making it home from our eventful drive to Idaho, we made sure we had somewhere to go to Thanksgiving tomorrow.  Thankfully, Kendall's grandma just lives in Tremonton and said we were still invited to come there.  Thanksgiving was spent at his Grandma's with a nice meal and visiting with family. Sam and the other boys watched a lot of TV in the back bedroom since there were no other kids for them to play with.  Sam, for some reason, loved this.  I guess we just don't usually let him watch TV show after TV show usually.

  Thursday night, we made game plans for the shopping.  Janice stayed at our house while Kendall and I went to Wal-Mart for some toys that started on sale at 12:01AM.  It was crazy there, but we made it out with almost everything we were looking for. I came home and went to sleep, but Kendall got back up at 3:45 to go out again in the morning. He said the morning was quick and easy and they were all back by 6:15.

Shopping out of the way, we were determined to have a super fun day for the boys to make up for not going to Portland.  We drove down to a dollar theater in Sugar house to see Despicable Me.  When we got there, however, they had just barely sold out.  Sam was broken hearted again.  We were feeling bad, because we really wanted to have a fun day, so we drove to the Gateway and got some of the last tickets to see Tangled instead.  Popcorn included and the boys had fun.

 Then, we took Trax to temple square and walked around to see the lights.  Every year since we've been dating, Kendall and I have a tradition to go to SLC during the Christmas season and eat at the Gandolfo's on Main Street. It's upstairs and has a big window where you can see some of the hustle and bustle outside.   It's been fun to go to the same place at the same time every year and reflect back on our year and see how our family changes each time we're there. We walked over to the restaurant to eat dinner and, on the door, was a handwritten sign that read, "Closed. Sorry, out of bread." Kendall and I just stared at each other in disbelief.  This fun vacation week we had planned just keeps having all sorts of kinks and glitches. We take Trax back to our van and just catch a quick dinner on the way home. Kendall and I decide that, apart from his family Christmas party tomorrow, we are not going anywhere else for the rest of the week.

Kendall's family has a Christmas Party after Thanksgiving every year.  Lunch, sometimes family pictures, Santa comes, white elephant game. It was fun, though the pictures were taken out in a barn this year and it was SO COLD. Kendall was holding Dodge wrapped up in several blankets and so he will just look like a lump of blue blankets in the pictures.

Sigh. We've had a nice relaxing Sunday today and will be back in the swing of it all tomorrow.  Even though this week turned out nothing like we planned, it was fun to be together all week and have Kendall off work. I'm super grateful for everything I have...even these crazy weeks that will be something we look back on forever. And laugh about, hopefully. :)
