We were so happy to get out of the hotel and into our new home! However, we closed on a Friday and didn't get our stuff delivered until Monday. So, we went to Wal Mart and bought super cheap, horrible pillows and pulled out the blankets I had packed and slept on the floor in our new house for two nights. It made for some uncomfortable nights, but we were excited for our new house and the extra space after the hotel week.
Come Monday (December 23), the truck showed up and a crew of guys moved our life out of the truck and into the new house. They put things in the right rooms and even put together the beds! They also set up the washer and dryer! Now, we had a house stacked full of boxes....we're getting there, step by step.
The next step was to put up Christmas! I have to say, it was a miracle that we not only got closed on our house, but that we got our stuff delivered in time! It was extremely stressful trying to get our life in order in time for Christmas. So, in the midst of the stacks of boxes and empty cupboards, we put up our Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations. We had purchased and wrapped all of our Christmas presents before they packed up our house back in Utah, so we just had to pull them out of the boxes on Christmas Eve. We were so happy that we pulled it all together! We had traditional Christmas Eve jammies and the boys even pulled together a gift they made for each of their brothers. Luke made everyone rockets out of toilet paper rolls. Sam did an acrostic poem for each of them. Brigg and I made some Christmas mints and Dodge made them all play doh.
We had a great first Christmas in North Carolina!
